Cub Scout Uniforms Explained
What Uniforms Will I need?
Cub Scouts wear two different uniforms.
1. The Field Uniform (sometimes called "Class A").
- Lion Scouts (Kindergarten) wear a blue Lion t-shirt, hat, and belt. Lion dens may choose to wear an optional neckerchief.
- Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Scouts (1st - 4th Grades) wear the blue Cub Scout uniform shirt and blue uniform shorts or pants, blue belt, and rank-specific hat, neckerchief, neckerchief slide, and socks. Webelos Scouts also wear the Webelos Adventure Colors.
- Arrow of Light Scouts (5th Grade) wear the tan Scout uniform shirt with blue shoulder loops, green uniform shorts or pants, green belt, and socks. AOL Scouts also wear the Webelos Adventure Colors. The AOL den will decide whether to wear a Scouting America hat, neckerchief, and neckerchief slide.

2. The Activity Uniform (sometimes called "Class B"). This is your Pack 227 t-shirt, which you will receive after paying your Pack Dues.

WHAT PATCHES WILL I NEED?
New scouts will need the following emblems and insignia:
- Lion Scouts do not wear any patches on their Lion t-shirt.
- Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Scouts will need a council shoulder patch, pack number (white on red), den number, and world crest emblem. The world crest ring is optional.
- Arrow of Light Scouts will need a council shoulder patch, pack number (white on red), patrol patch (you will order these through your den), and world crest emblem. The world crest ring is optional.
Council: Western Los Angeles County Council
- NOTE: The uniforms with pre-sewn patches at the Camarillo Scout Shop have the Ventura County Council shoulder patch. Uniforms from the Van Nuys Scout Shop with pre-sewn patches will have the correct shoulder patch.
Pack Number: 227
Den Numbers (2026/27) - you will keep the same den number from year-to-year
- Lion (Kindergarten): Den 6
- Tiger (1st Grade): Den 5
- Wolf (2nd Grade): Den 4
- Bear (3rd Grade): Den 3
- Webelos (4th Grade): Den 2
- Arrow of Light (5th Grade): Den 1 (Patrol Name TBD)

WHY DO CUB SCOUTS WEAR UNIFORMS?
Wearing uniforms has been a method of the Scouting movement from the beginning. Decades of experience show uniforming to have many benefits, including:
- Equality. The uniform represents a democratic ideal of equality. Scouts from various cultures and different economic levels wear the same uniform and cooperate as equals.
- Identification. The uniform identifies its wearer as a member of the Cub Scouts. Badges on the uniform tell other members that he or she belongs to their den, pack, and council. The uniform itself identifies a good citizen to the entire community.
- Achievement. The uniform displays badges and other awards so the accomplishments of each Cub Scout can be immediately recognized.
- Commitment. Wearing a uniform is a constant reminder to each Cub Scout of his or her commitment to the ideals and purposes of Cub Scouting: duty to God, loyalty to country, and helpfulness to others.
Our pack emphasizes the importance of wearing the correct and complete uniform on all suitable occasions and encourages all parents to do the same.
